In 2007, a chapel was consecrated in the name of St. Abo Tbileli (Tbilisi), patron saint of Tbilisi. According to legend, this is the spot where the Arab Abo Tbileli (757-786), who practiced Christianity, was martyred in the name of faith in 786. First, a wooden cross was placed here, and then a chapel was built in the XIII century. In 1951, during the construction of the new Metekhi bridge, the chapel, or, as it is also called, the "niche" was blown up. In 1994, archaeologists discovered the remains of the building and built a small church on the same site.
