Amphicars crossed the English Channel successfully on two occasions, in 1962 and 1965. Amphicars were the world's only mass-produced amphibious passenger cars. On August 9th, 1962, Tony Andal, 42, and Jean Broel, 45 crossed the channel in five and a half hours despite heavy seas and high winds. Route: Calais, France - Dover, Kent.
