Cordillera de Talamanca

The Cordillera de Talamanca is a mountain range situated in the southeast of Costa Rica and the far west of Panama. It is largely encompassed by La Amistad International Park, a shared protected area between the two countries. This range extends from the southwest of San José to the border of Panama and holds the highest peaks of both Costa Rica and Panama, including Cerro Chirripó at 12,530 feet and the more easily accessible Cerro de la Muerte. The Caribbean areas of the range have not yet been extensively explored.
