This giant brick mansion on 75 Post Road isn't exactly new - it was designed by Adams & Prentice and built in 1936 for Howard Phipps, who came from a family loaded with steel money (his dad worked with Andrew Carnegie himself!). Phipps was a noted horticulturalist and the youngest brother of the Phipps children. The bricks are even fancy - they shipped them all the way from Virginia where Howard's wife grew up. The place is called Erchess (sounds like "airchless"), which is kinda like a family nickname after a Scottish castle they liked to visit.
