Known as Mantashev's Gostiny Dvor in Tiflis at the beginning of the 20th century the building belonged to the hereditary Tiflis merchant of the 1st guild Alexander Mantashev (1842-1911). Designed by the architect Alexander Ozerov (1849-1922) in 1910, its forged gates were made in the Art Nouveau style. The arch above the gates is decorated with a mascaron ornament depicting Mercury, the Roman god of commerce. Mantashev's Gostiny Dvor was a modern shopping center for the period. It housed fashion stores and offices of trading companies. In Soviet times, various state institutions were located here, including the Tbilisi Jewelry Factory. It has been converted into a residential building.
