Located at Zsolca Kapu 7 in Miskolc, Hungary, stands a testament to resilience - the abandoned Weisz house. Built around 1909-1910, this structure once housed a vibrant community. The ground floor buzzed with shops, while families resided in the comfortable apartments on the upper floors. My own visits in April and November of 2023 highlight the changing fortunes of the Weisz house. During the first visit, the gate stood open, offering a glimpse into its past. However, by November, a locked gate secured the property. Unlike many neighboring buildings that succumbed to the bombings of 1944-45, the Weisz house emerged relatively unscathed. This fortitude earned it recognition as a historical monument in 2008. More recently, the ownership of the house has changed hands, hinting at a possible new chapter in its story.
