Opened in 1934, The Golden Horn was operated by In 1934, Aram Salisian opened the Golden Horn Restaurant at 31 W. 51st Street in New York, directly opposite the stage entrance of the New York City Music Hall. The Golden Horn was one of the earliest Armenian restaurants in American, along with places like Dardenelles and Ararat in and around New York City. The restaurant was renowned, especially for its desserts such as ekmek kadayif and paklava. Gourmet Magazine included it in its list of 100 Best Restaurants. Author William Saroyan, a frequent visitor to New York, ate at The Golden Horn several times, at least once bringing famed Hollywood director Rouben Mamoulian with him. He often took his then-girlfriend, and later wife, Carol Marcus to The Golden Horn in the early days of their relationship. The restaurant moved over the years, including to 122 West 49th.
