The Kingston Trio, the most successful US folk group of the late 1950s and early 1960s, built their following at this North Beach club. Numerous other acts played here during the folk revival, but so did top emerging comedians like Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, and Dick Gregory. The club closed in the late 1960s, failing to make the transition to the rock era, although folk-rock stars the Lovin’ Spoonful did play here in 1966.
