The building housed the editorial office of the Zarya Vostoka newspaper and other publishing houses of newspapers and magazines. Everything was published in Russian and also the languages of the people living in Georgia. The building was constructed in 1928. This is one of the examples of constructivism popular in the 1920s. This was an attempt by Tbilisi architects to blend national motives with constructivism, giving the building a “local” flavor. The building was erected in a monolithic reinforced concrete frame.
